When you hear the word, "conservative," the first thing that comes to mind is politics. That is not what is intended here. I take a conservative approach to the Bible. In other words, I am committed to conserving the truths of Scripture. If we are at odds with what the Bible says, we are wrong, and the Bible is right.
I would describe myself as a Reformed Baptist, theologically speaking. I am committed to the great truths of the Protestant Reformation. The reformers were committed to bringing the church back to the truths found in Scripture. They gave us the five solas: "Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, according to scripture alone, for the glory of god alone." As for being Baptist, I am committed to the belief that baptism is preceded by repentance, and is administered by full immersion in water.
There is nothing more exciting to me than teaching the truths of God's Word. Doctrine is often criticized today, even in many churches. People will say things like, "My only doctrine is Jesus." That doctrinal statement is very insufficient. As believers in Jesus Christ we are to explore the depths of the Scriptures to know all that we can about the Savior who purchased us with his blood. I agree with the Apostle Paul's instruction to a young pastor named Timothy. He said this:
1 Timothy 4:16
[16] Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers. (ESV)
It is my heart's desire that those who are under my care, as Pastor, will grow deeply in their knowledge of the Word of God. I want you to become as passionate as I am about doctrine.
On July 13, 1991, God gave me the greatest gift, next to the gift of eternal life. He gave me my wife, Dina. My wife is my best friend, the love of my life, and a tremendous helper to me in all areas of life. We have been gifted with two wonderful children, Bethany Joy, and Joshua David. We also have one wonderful granddaughter, Rhiannon.
As I have grown in my walk with the Lord, I have discovered a love for writing books. I have written several devotional books that go verse by verse through a book of the Bible. I have written some books that are based on sermon series through books or passages of the Bible. I have also written several books that are intended to be a help to any church. You can see more about my books below. All books are available on Amazon.com. You can also purchase them directly from me. My hope is that you will grow in your love for the Lord, and his holy Word as a result of reading the books.
